Granite rocks are formed by gradually cooling pocket of magma which is ensnared below the surface of earth. Granite rock is also known as igneous rock which is compound of four minerals. Granite rocks are amalgam of four minerals named as quartz, mica, feldspar and hornblende. The formation of granite gets wrought under the surface of earth. Granite rocks form as volcanic emission. Granite cools bit by bit because it solidifies under deep level of ground. In this process all the four minerals grow and finally they get large enough. Crystal of these mineral may be clearly seen in granite rocks. These crystals can be seen with naked eyes. Crystals of quartz and feldspar are more prompt in granite rocks. Apart from this granite rocks also contain mica minerals and other dark-colored silicate minerals.
Granite rocks are also created when volcanoes blow up. Eruption of volcanoes supports the rising of magma above the earth. When magma comes up at earth level it is named as lava and later on this lava gets the shape of granite rock.
Quarrying of granite rocks is done in various regions across the seas. The State of New Hampshire is world widely reckoned as Granite State; it has got this nickname because it has large number of Granite Mountains. On the other hand colossal outcroppings of granites are found in Canadian Shield of North America.
Granite is considered ideal for construction purposes. Granite rocks are a brilliant stuff for building bridges. Sturdiness of granite makes it suitable for construction and decoration of buildings. Granite rocks are immensely used to build monuments. Granite rocks are easy to shape and carve. Engraving done on granite rocks last for long time, even more than hundred years. Granite rocks carry an exceptional power to endure with pressure of 1000 pounds. Processing of granite rocks converts them in various usable shapes such as slabs, tiles, chips etc.
